SPRITZ COOKIES

SPRITZ COOKIES

 

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/4 tsp almond or vanilla extract
2 drops food coloring (if desired)

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl
with electric mixer, or mix with spoon.
Stir in flour, salt, egg, flavoring, and food coloring.

Place dough in cookie press (follow press instructions)
Form desired shapes on greased cookie sheet.

Bake 5 to 8 minutes, or until set but not brown.
Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

To decorate after baking, use a drop of corn syrup
to attach decorations to cookies.

* Adjusting to the cookies press took some experimenting
   on my part. I had to play with it trying for the exact
   pressure to form the cookie. I also chilled the  dough
   for about 10 minutes before baking.
